The main focus of our company’s activities is in the field of Thermal Spray.
This is due to the fact that most of our (PTC Innovation) background knowledge and expertise is in this area.
We have however also access to the expertise, equipment, knowledge and personnel of all areas within the PTW University West Trollhattan research group, welding processes, additive manufacturing, machining and automation and we can work with you in these fields.


 

Other than that our operations are divided into seven main areas. National and international exchanges with institutes and universities are a natural part of our efforts to collect, disseminate and raise knowledge of new manufacturing technology in the country.

Material parameters

In addition to traditional material characterisation, we also perform evaluations of mechanical properties, physical properties, non-destructive testing, development of testing methods, mapping of porosity, residual stress, film thickness, etc.

Materials and process development

Examples of our process development projects are optimization of process efficiency, development of parameter settings, evaluation of the influence of an additive material size distribution and composition on the spraying layer properties.

Application development

Examples of our application development are coatings for corrosion and high temperature applications and service development methods for worn or faulty machined products. Development of new sensor technologies for various applications is an important part of our activities.

Post-processing treatments

Examples of methods that we work with here eat heat treatment, laser re-melting, sintering and mechanical processing.

Quality assurance

Quality is of great importance for the whole chain from powder manufacturing to sprayed coatings and post-treatments. We develop customized process quality control systems, where our broad experience from the aerospace industry is a great asset.

Structural Engineering

The availability of material data and rules for the design of coated components are scarce and often incomplete. We can provide accurate material properties data. Examples of these properties are material strength, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Function and durability assessment

We provide services for testing of components such as follow-up of coatings durability and performance in various applications. Another example is non-destructive testing for assessing the life length of the coating.
